A Q U A R I U S N E W M O O N E C L I P S E
This month’s New Moon takes place at 27º Aquarius in the midst of a celebratory week. Monday is President Lincoln’s birthday. Tuesday is Fat Tuesday where one is meant to dive into their vices and let it all hang out. Wednesday is Ash Wednesday; the start of fasting during Lent. Wednesday is also Valentines Day — a cultural phenomenon — where pairing seems the requirement, and the love of couples is celebrated. Thursday there is a break from all of the holidays, and we experience the New Moon in all of its glory. Friday wraps up the week with the Chinese New Year and marks the newness of the cycles that we are experiencing this week.
The New Moon is a new beginning a time that we can use during the month's lunation to start things and to set intentions for our hopes. This New Moon falls in social, at times aloof, and always pragmatic Aquarius. Mercury and Venus are conjunct the Sun and the Moon this month adding their energy to the mix of the Aquarian New Moon.
Uranus rules Aquarius, giving it the ability to experience the real authentic self in a very logical way. Powerful ideas can come in an instant during these times, so be sure to carry around a pen and paper to write these thoughts down. If you don't snag up these grand ideas that Uranus give us in a lightning flash, they may just give them to someone else. If there is a solution that you are looking for this is the perfect time to let the answer flow in. If we meditate on being open to the solution, it will have a good chance of finding us this week.
Mercury is the archetype of the mind, thinking, and all ways of communicating and connecting our ideas with others. Mercury is in a sextile, a harmonious relationship, with Uranus. Uranus rules all electric and new ideas, it is the revolution and the rebellion, and it is what breaks the bounds of this reality and what allows us to see the next. This combination — Mercury and Uranus —gives us lightning flashes of good ideas as well as an ability for our communication to surprise us.
Although there is not a significance to Valentines Day astrologically speaking, there is a cultural sway and cultural importance that seeps into us around holidays like Valentine’s Day. This gives this day power, and instead of seeing it is a negative let's be sure to look at where we can make use of it.
Venus is the archetype of love and beauty is sextile to Saturn giving it structure and stability. Saturn is the archetype of tradition, structure, and durability. This combination can provide our relationships with the stability they need to last a lifetime. It is a time when we should set our intentions of what we want and need our of our long-term relationships.
With all of this out of the ordinary communication and serious commitment on the horizon, these New Moon intentions nearly speak for themselves. With an Aquarian New Moon, it is best to take this opportunity to fall in love with our weird, unique, and quirky self. When we let our freak flag fly — our truest self — we can then let love be actualized. It is time to start something extraordinary that will benefit you and those around you.
